Creative and dSonic have jointly announced the availability of an adaptive audio patch for Unreal Tournament 2004. The mod allows players to experience real-time audio that adjusts to events in the game. The patch is designed to take advantage of Creative's X-Fi card's capabilities and 128 voice support. Once applied to the game, weapons and music use multiple voices for a bigger sound, and three dimensional panning for use with multi-speaker set-ups. Owners of the Creative Sound Blaster XFi sound card can download the mod directly from the Sound Blaster website. “With this mod players will get new weapon sounds that completely surround the player and adaptive music that reacts in real-time to the game play, putting the gamer at the heart of the action,” commented dSonic co-founder Kemal Amarasingham. “The music changes depending on game events such as the intensity of the battle, how many health points you have (or don’t), making a kill, etc. It’s smart audio, and something fans will really love – no matter what the genre is, this is a feature that can enhance any game.” Amarasingham continued: “Working with Creative has allowed us to experiment and implement new audio strategies which greatly enhance gameplay. The possibilities are endless, and every game can have its own unique style of Adaptive Audio based on the gameplay. We look forward to continuing our work with Creative and other developers in the future.”
