Pre-TGS: Katamari On Handhelds, DMC, MGS For PS3, New Q? Title

A number of announcements on games debuting at this week's Tokyo Game Show have already debuted, with particularly interesting information regarding Namco's handheld plans, new PlayStation 3 images, and a new game from Tetsuya Mizuguchi's Q? Entertainment. - Namco is supporting both the PlayStation Portable as well as the Nintendo DS with new titles, though both are entries in existing series. A third entry in the beloved Katamari Damacy series, to be called Boku no Watashi no Katamari Damacy (Me & Mine Katamari Damacy) has been announced for the PSP, with apparent support for the system's wi-fi capabilities. For the DS, Namco will be offering both Xenosaga Episode I and Episode II on a single card, with redone 2D graphics and simplified story sequences. The company also revealed that Episode III for PS2, subtitled "Also Sprach Zarathustra," would be the final game in the series. - Weekly Famitsu has revealed images from Devil May Cry 4 and Metal Gear Solid 4, both of which will appear in video form at TGS. The DMC4 screenshots on display show a realistic Dante in high-detail city streets, though the accompanying text reveals that the images shown are merely target renders and that the actual game will be less realistic-looking in favor of a more stylized approach. By contrast, Hideo Kojima said of the aged-looking Solid Snake shown that all TGS footage from MGS4 will be in real-time -- which, given the level of polish for his team's first PlayStation 2 trailer at E3 2000, is certainly plausible. - Finally, Q? Entertainment founder Tetsuya Mizuguchi has announced a new game in the vein of game/music fusion titles Rez and Lumines. The title and platform have yet to be announced, but the game will be an entry in Bandai's "qb" series established with Lumines. Mizuguchi promises to announce the game, which he'll direct himself, on his official weblog before the start of TGS, which commences on Friday.
