The so-called Egbrowser ships on a standard PS2 disk and will work with PS2-compatible modems hooked up to the console's USB port. The software will also support downloading MP3s and other online features which will be exploited in current and future PS2 games. The software works with most users' existing Internet service accounts, said Planetweb CEO Ken Soohoo. The software will not only run off the disk like other PS2 software, he said, but Internet settings and the like can be stored on the console's memory card. Careful to distinguish his product from WebTV, Soohoo said, "Our mission is to allow people to hook up and play games online." Whether a U.S. version of the software will appear is up to Sony.
