Pixologic announced an upgrade from version 1.03 to 1.1 of its modeling and texturing tool, ZBrush, for both the PC and Macintosh. The new version is expected to be out on January 9, and Pixelogic says that it contains many new enhancements. ZBrush is a dynamic and integrated digital imagery workflow solution for design professionals. Built on a fast and stable rendering engine it uses its unique "Pixol" Rendering technology, to allow an artist to paint an image with depth and push/pull sections, create and move lights, change the materials and apply both 2D and 3D effects in one integrated, real-time workspace. ZBrush version 1.1 incorporates additions and improvements including enhanced toolsets such as including SweepProfile3D Thickness control, improved MRGBZGrabber Draw capabilities, and the anti-aliased Fiber Brush. It sports enhanced rendering capabilities such as superSampling and flatten layers, and enhanced layer functionality for faster rendering . It adds new default textures, enhanced Z Graph technology, new material properties, new render modes, new fog & depth of field effects, intuitive GUI scrolling, greater object display capabilities, and more. ZBrush version 1.1 is available as a free upgrade, new users will be able to purchase it at a special introductory price of $292.50 for a limited period of time, and then it will jump to around $585.00.
