U.S. firm Performance Designed Products (PDP) has acquired British peripheral maker In2Games, best known for the Gametrak and RealPlay motion sensing devices and games. With the RealPlay series of budget priced PlayStation 2 titles yet to be released outside of the UK, PDP appear to be primarily interested in the Gametrak Freedom (previously known as Gametrak Fusion) device which uses ultrasonic technology and is cross compatible with the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. In2Games claims that the device, whose default controller resembles the Wii remote, is the only motion sensing game controller which accurately tracks the true 3D position and precise movements of up to four players at a time. The Gametrack Freedom is due to be released in 2009, alongside internally developed title Squeeballs. PDP also claim to be planning a coordinated launch with additional titles from other third party publishers and developers. “Until now, gaming has been limited to the player interacting with the game although platforms such as the Wii have heightened this experience. Now, with the latest motion sensing technology created by In2Games, the game will interact with the player” said Chris Richards, president and CEO of PDP. “We are extremely excited to bring this unparalleled technology to first party console manufacturers, as well as third party publishers and developers to further heighten the level of game interaction with the player.”
