Early Bird pre-registration for the fifth annual Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) is due to close on March 31st, 2008. Organizers have also restated that its call for speakers to submit proposals for sessions and panels is still open to “all game industry experts worldwide.” Early Bird pre-registrants are to receive a three-day attendee badge for the price of $40 (a 20% discount on the day-of rate) and are eligible to compete in the annual Omegathon gaming competition to be held on site at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center Aug. 29 - 31, 2008. Speakers for PAX are selected based on their past experience, knowledge of the industry, and the topic proposed. If selected, prospective speakers are to be contacted by June 1, 2008 and will receive a complimentary Speaker Pass for PAX 2008. The announcement follows other recent news of the upcoming Penny Arcade Expo, including the unveiling of “The PAX 10," a new independent games showcase. According to organizers, PAX attracted over 37,000 attendees last year, “making it the largest gaming festival in North America”.
