<a href="http://www.nokia.com">Nokia</a>, hoping to boost the number of applications -- including games -- that support its forthcoming Media Terminal,
has launched OSTDEV.net, a site designed to foster an open standard for home entertainment terminals. Through OSTDEV.net, Nokia is releasing its core software code to open source to boost the number of developers who wish to create games and other software for the system. The Nokia Media Terminal, based around a 366MHz Celeron processor, will serve as a multi-function set-top box that will allow consumers to play games and digital music, record televion, and stream rich media files to their televisions. Nokia's Media Terminal available in Sweden this summer, in Germany and the UK this Fall, and in the US in about a year.
