In a joint press release today Nokia and Sega officials announced that that Nokia will acquire assets of Sega.com, inc. to enhance the online games and service offerings for the N-Gage cell phone/games console hybrid. The deal will ensure that Nokia have exclusive access to the Sega Network Application Package (SNAP), which enables high-performance networked multi-player games and will form the core of the N-Gage’s online games activity. No financial details of the new arrangement were released. Nokia have also announced they are planning to ship 6 million units of the N-Gage in two years.
