Nintendo is to hold a major press conference in Japan on October 2nd to announce "new products", according to information from business newspaper Nihon Securities Journal. As translated by blog site Kotaku, the Nintendo Conference Autumn 2008 will take place just before the annual Tokyo Game Show. Although traditionally Nintendo never exhibits at the Tokyo Game Show it is a regular sponsor of the event and has used it to make key announcements in the past – including the first unveiling of the Wii. Nintendo is being customarily tight lipped on whether the "new products" will include hardware as well as software, commenting to website Edge Online: “In terms of the press conference, its content and announcements are still being finalized so we are not announcing anything at this time.” Few software titles have been announced for the Wii or Nintendo DS beyond 2008, with rumors of new games aimed at a more hardcore audience, a solution for the Wii’s limited storage capacity and a new or redesigned Nintendo DS common favorites of Internet rumor sites.
