UK trade website MCV has revealed that Nintendo of Europe has named a replacement for departing senior marketing director Jim Merrick. The new marketing director for the European branch will be Laurent Fischer, promoted from his previous position as regional marketing director at Nintendo of France. In his new position as NoE marketing director, Fischer will oversee the direction of all European marketing of Nintendo products, including the Nintendo GameCube, Nintendo DS, Game Boy Advance, and the company's upcoming Revolution console. According to the report, he'll be joined in the effort by Achim Schmauss, newly named as European brand manager, who'll also help with marketing Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess when it arrives in Europe. “Nintendo is moving into a very exciting and innovative time as we expand the definition of gaming and broaden the population of video games players,” said Fischer. “I am looking forward to the new challenge of working for Nintendo at a European level in this particularly significant period.”
