Nintendo Announces Zelda, Nintendogs Holiday DS Bundles

Nintendo has announced two DS bundles to be offered during the holiday season beginning November 23rd, each with a special-edition color DS system. A new Gold DS comes with The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, while the Metallic Rose DS will be bundled with the "Best Friends" version of Nintendogs. The limited-edition units are each branded with an image of the game that is included in the bundle -- the gold DS has a Triforce symbol on it, to go with Phantom Hourglass, while the Metallic Rose DS has a puppy pawprint, in keeping with the Nintendogs theme. According to NPD figues cited by Nintendo, DS sales topped 458,000 in October and are nearly 4.5 million for 2007. Since its launch three years ago on November 2004, the DS has sold over 13.6 million units. Marketing and corporate communications senior vice president George Harrison commented, "Nintendo DS remains the portable system of choice for gamers. Our new bundles will be collector's items for current gamers while offering an attractive way for people new to video games to play with style."
