Officials from Nintendo have revealed details of the Australian launch of the Nintendo DS portable, which is now officially scheduled for release on February 24th at $199.95 AUD ($153 USD). Due to its use of the PAL television format, Australasia usually follows a release date closer to Europe than North American and Japan, although traditionally, it does get hardware and games a few months or weeks beforehand. No details have yet been revealed about the European launch of the Nintendo DS, and are not expected to be until a press conference in Paris on January 28th. This alone makes it unlikely the European launch date will be the same as Australia, although Nintendo will no doubt be attempting to release the console as far in advance as possible of the expected late March release of the PSP.
