Today's regularly updated newsbriefs include news of a new patch for Sony's PS3 launch title Resistance: Fall of Man, the price for "Mehrune's Razor" expansion to Xbox 360 RPG Oblivion being shaven down to nothing, and a special numbered collector's edition for the upcoming PC strategy title Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars. - Sony officials have announced the release of the first patch for the Insomniac developed PlayStation 3 launch title, Resistance: Fall of Man. While a number of additions and enhancements have been added to the online first person shooter, some of the more notable are the new inclusion of time limits to the game types that were missing them; the addition of an option to allow "map voting", which allows players in a custom game to vote on a new map from the results screen; and an improved spawning algorithm to prioritize spawn points that are away from enemies and near teammates and squadmates. The patch also addresses various game balancing issues, as well as makes voice chat now “push-to-talk” by default in team games as well as free-for-all games. A full list of the changes introduced by this patch are available via Sony's Online Play forum. - Xbox Live official blogger Major Nelson has noted that the “Mehrune's Razor” expansion for Bethesda's epic Xbox 360 role-playing game The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is being offered free to download from now until December 31, 2006, after which it will return to its previous price of 250 Microsoft Points (approximately $3). The expansion, which was originally released over the Xbox Live marketplace in June, includes the ability to earn the deadly weapon, Mehrune's Razor, as well as 17 new magic items, and 12 new books, notes, and journals. - Officials from major developer and publisher Electronic Arts have revealed that the previously announced strategy game Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars will ship in both a standard as well as a special edition for the PC. Titled Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars: Kane Edition, the special, numbered collector’s edition will come with an exclusive bonus DVD featuring a behind the scenes documentary, deleted scenes and a blooper reel from the live action video shoots, a series of gameplay strategy videos from the game designers, five exclusive wallpapers, and five exclusive multiplayer maps and three unique unit skins — one for each of the three factions in the game. The version will also feature five exclusive wallpapers. The game, which was also recently announced for the Xbox 360, will ship in March 2007. - The latest updates on Gamasutra sister alt.gaming weblog GameSetWatch include a collection of holiday cards sent by video game companies, a new set of games released over the GameTap PC subscription gaming service, and a collection of links covering such topics as Michael Mateas' new university course, a new patch of Phantasy Star for SMS, and a conversation with Disney's new Wii-specific studio. - The latest updates from Gamasutra sister website Serious Games Source include a case study concerning the use of Caspian's Thinking Worlds game authoring software to create a a new educational serious game within a classroom setting. - Also updated today: the latest Gamasutra job postings, including openings from Crystal Dynamics, Double Fine Productions, Emergent Game Technologies, Floodgate Entertainment, High Moon Studios, NHTV Breda University of Applied Sciences, Ping0, Pipeworks, Rochester Institute of Technology, Shiny Entertainment, and The Collective.
