NDL announced a strategic agreement with Discreet that will give gmax licensees a direct export path to the NetImmerse game engine and development toolkit. gmax is Discreet’s game-development level editor based on 3ds max. Under the new agreement, developers using gmax can export their level content to NetImmerse via NDL’s MAXImmerse plug-in. They can also use MAXImmerse to preview their content in real-time on Xbox, PlayStation 2, PC or Gamecube platforms. The new level of connectivity allows game developers to accelerate their work and have the option of publishing “gmax Game Packs” for select titles. Game Packs include code extensions and a customized user interface that allow game players to freely create, customize and trade playable game content for gmax titles.
