U.S. cable network MTV2 has announced that it will broadcast 'MTV News Presents: Gods of Gaming' this Saturday, August 19 at 6:30 PM E/P, a half hour special featuring an interview with four high profile game developers. The program will focus on an in-depth discussion with industry icons, including Will Wright (The Sims, Spore), Cliffy B (Unreal, Gears of War), David Jaffe (Twisted Metal, God of War), and Harvey Smith (Deus Ex 2: Invisible War, FireTeam). The group interview was filmed at an art gallery exhibit dedicated to retro gaming in Los Angeles, and focused on discussion concerning what the quartet of developers feel is right about games, as well as what's wrong. MTV2 is no stranger to covering different aspects of the video game industry. In 2004 the network launched 'Video Mods', a program that showcased custom music videos using video game characters and environments in a CG/machinima style. Among those games highlighted by Video Mods, which the network notes will soon see a series of new episodes, were Fountains of Wayne's "Stacey's Mom", courtesy of Will Wright and EA's The Sims 2 and Franz Ferdinand’s “Take Me Out” set to The Collective's Star Wars Episode III - Revenge of the Sith. In addition, the network aired a 'Gears Of War: Road To E3' special earlier this year, featuring Epic and Microsoft's preparations for this May's Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles, and its parent network regularly features news and interviews on its MTV Overdrive broadband video channel and MTV News website, showcasing its commitment to gaming.
