Representatives from television network MTV have announced a new partnership with the recently formed Hip-Hop Gaming League, which features notable hiphop and sports media personalities participating in tournament gaming, and is administered by esports firm Global Gaming League. As part of this new deal, MTV will run on-air and online programming to help promote the league's inaugural season, which is being orchestrated by hip-hop personality Snoop Dogg. Fans will also be able to follow league results by visiting the MTV Overdrive Games channel each week leading up to the finals taking place on May 13 in Los Angeles, during which the entire match will be streamed live. The finals will also air as part of Sucker Free on MTV2 in May, and league happenings will be featured during segments of MTV's new video game show G-Hole. "We're thrilled to partner with the Hip-Hop Gaming League as it brings a whole new level of visibility to the world of organized video game competitions," stated Salli Frattini, senior vice president, executive in charge of production. "Working with the HHGL allows us to present some of our audience's passions across MTV's multiple platforms by bringing together some of the biggest names in hip-hop to test their competitive skills on some of their favorite video games." The league, which competes primarily on the Xbox 360, is open only to celebrity players from the world of music, sports, and other entertainment media personally selected by Snoop, who also acts as sole referee and enforcer of the league's rules. The player lineup for the inaugural season includes Paul Wall, Just Blaze, Twista, David Banner, Krayzie Bone of Grammy Award winners Bone Thugs n Harmony, Major League Soccer star Cobi Jones, Murs, Kaine of the Ying Yang Twins, National Basketball Association star Jalen Rose, Fredwreck, BReal of Cypress Hill, Eric V. of the Baka Boyz and Method Man.
