Also within the in-depth Peter Moore interview published today on Gamasutra, the exec has been commenting on the likelihood of seeing upcoming Final Fantasy games appearing on Xbox 360, suggesting "we would hope" to have Final Fantasy XIII on Microsoft's next-gen console. Specifically, when asked about Square Enix's licensing of the Xbox 360-friendly Unreal Engine 3 for some of its projects, and whether Square Enix are going to go cross-platform going forward on the Final Fantasy series, Moore commented: "We talk to Square Enix all the time. They're a great partner, and we do some distribution for them now with Project Sylpheed. We're always talking, but it's their intellectual property, and they know what's best for them and their shareholders." However, the Microsoft exec, since departed to head up EA Sports, went on to comment: "One would assume that if we continue to do our job with our install base that Final Fantasy could show up on our box. We did have [Final Fantasy] XI, as you know, and while [Final Fantasy] XIII still seems like it's a ways away, we would hope to have that progress." Thus far, Final Fantasy XIII, which was revealed by Square Enix at E3 2006, and is using the company's in-house White Engine, has only been confirmed for release on Sony's PlayStation 3 console, with June 2007 comments from Square Enix's Shinji Hashimoto suggesting that Xbox 360 prospects for the series are currently "a blank page", but not ruling out the possibility. The full Gamasutra interview with Moore also includes the 360's future, the battle between HD and Blu-ray, the Zune and potential Microsoft handheld devices (as a preview, he says we'll be waiting a "long time"), and virtual worlds. More importantly, we finally got the bottom of that age-old question – is Peter Moore the Devil?
