Mok3 has announced a brand-new product, the Mok3 Perspective Clone Brush plug-in for Adobe Photoshop. The traditional clone brush, a.k.a. the rubber stamp tool, is one of the most powerful and popular image editing tools out there. It paints on the 2D image, even when an image is of a 3D scene. As a result, the painted area does not match up with the surrounding texture. Correcting for this would require further time-consuming and difficult steps, such as selection, perspective stretching, moving and placing, then blending. Using the Perspective Clone Brush, the user first specifies four corners of a rectangular feature in perspective, then starts to clone brush. Within minutes, the user can clone brush with automatic perspective correction. The above example illustrates how the Perspective Clone Brush can be used to paint textures in correct 3D perspective within one virtual drawing plane. The Perspective Clone Brush also gives users the ability to copy textures between two virtual drawing planes that have different orientations. The Perspective Clone Brush eliminates all the guesswork required to distort an image to approximate those conditions. In addition, the Perspective Clone Brush also features capabilities to perform its cloning operation with simultaneous correction for differences in lighting and scale in the image. Other features in the plug-in include scale adjustment and destination matching, an automatic feature for making sure patterns line up. Demo tutorials and an evaluation copy are available at the Mok3 website.
