Microtech Systems has upgraded its ImageMaker software suite to add DVD-R and copy protection support for its CD/DVD publishing and duplication systems. Release 2.04 is now available on Microtech’s brand new system, the Burnie: Network Disc Publisher, and on all models of the ImageAutomator line of disc publishing equipment. Featuring a user interface similar to Microsoft Windows Explorer, the ImageMaker EZ software makes production of CD-Rs and DVD-Rs a straightforward process. In addition, multiple disc production jobs from different sources may operate simultaneously on the production system, all overseen by the controlling system software. The new release allows jobs to be sent from any desktop to ImageAutomators at various locations on a network by a click of the mouse on a pull-down menu. The new version sends e-mail notification for job completion or system errors, thus letting the user know the status of the job. In addition, it adds CD text annotations, track-by-track, to each disc copy, so that the user has the ability to read the track selections by genre, title of track, performer and songwriter, although this functionality will require additional software to create and format that text. Users can print directly from Adobe Acrobat (.PDF) or Windows print files (.PRN) thereby allowing users to customize the printable surface of their discs using any graphics program to create the layout.
