Microsoft Game Studios has announced it will be bringing two Japan developed Xbox 360 exclusives to the U.S. this summer: Game Arts and Seta's space shooter Project Sylpheed, and Artoon's 'stealth horror shooter' Vampire Rain. Project Sylpheed is the latest game in Game Arts' long running series of 3D space shooters, which first appeared in 1986 on the Japanese PC-8801 platform. This game was later the subject of a remake for the Sega CD, and later followed up by yet another PlayStation 2 remake by Treasure in 2000. This latest game in the series was created exclusively for the Xbox 360 by Game Arts and Seta Corporation for Square Enix, which published the game in Japan in September 2006. While a firm North American release date is not yet known for Project Sylpheed, an official posting about the game on the official Xbox 360 website lists the title as carrying a $39.99 budget price point, instead of the $59.99 price normally asked for Xbox 360 releases. Microsoft Game Studios has also announced Vampire Rain as the second exclusive game confirmed to be making a debut in the North American market. Described as a “stealth horror shooter”, Vampire Rain is in development by Artoon (Pinobee, Blinx series). The third person action game will have players leading a black-ops unit on a secret mission to hunt down and kill vampires alone or with up to either players over Xbox Live. Like Project Sylpheed, a release date has not been announced for Vampire Rain, however a statement announcing the games for the North American market seemingly alluded to a summer release for both.
