Microsoft released Q4 earnings results today, reporting a 10 percent increase in sales on strong sales of Windows and MS Office, and "record" sales of Visio and MS Project.
For the quarter ended June 30, Microsoft's net profit reached $1.53 billion (28 cents per share), up from $65 million (1 cent per share) last year, exceeding what analysts had expected. Revenue was also up, to $7.25 billion -- 9.9 percent better than last year. During a conference call with analysts, Chief Financial Officer John Connors gave an update on Xbox sales. Conners said that 3.9 million Xbox units had been shipped as of the end of June, in line with a forecast three months ago in which the company said it expected to ship 3.5 million to 4.0 million Xbox units by the end of June.
