Microsoft, publisher of Bizarre Creations' Project Gotham Racing 3 for Xbox 360, has announced a promotion for Xbox Live members in Europe centered around the game, and called the PGR 100. The company will be accepting entries into the contest in a series of racing events, the winners of which will gain entry into the club of 100 and receive a special limited-edition black-finish Project Gotham Racing Xbox 360 system. The first method of gaining entry into the club is to download a special PGR 100 Gamer Picture from the Xbox Live Marketplace, a microtransaction-fueled way of purchasing Xbox 360 game content online. Any Xbox 360 users registering for the free Xbox Live Silver service can access the Marketplace, and the special picture will be available from 12:01 AM on February 26th to 11:59 PM on March 10th, leaving a fairly wide window of opportunity to enter the contest. Entry is automatic with the download. Other events, which will include ways for current-generation Xbox owners and others to enter the contest, will be announced soon at the promotion's website, which is only available for those setting their Xbox.com country setting to European. One such event planned is a racing match against PGR3's creators, though no date and time have been set. No information on a similar North American event has yet been announced.
