In an interview for Reuters, Microsoft Chief Xbox Officer Robbie Bach has said he is unconcerned about rapidly increasing sales of the GameCube, that threaten to put the Xbox into third place in the US. "Christmas was good, we feel like we had a very good holiday," Bach said. "I think it was one of those holidays you would describe as solid." He also claimed that in the last two weeks of December the Xbox outsold the GameCube - the last week of December, of course, being post-Christmas. In the same interview Bach refused to be drawn on the release date of Halo 2, indicating that a spring 2004 release was not guaranteed.
