Microsoft has announced that it will be publishing the eighth entry into the stealth-action ninja franchise Tenchu, with the Xbox 360 exclusive Tenchu Z by K2 Interactive and From Software. First given an exclusive Japanese release in October of last year, Microsoft promises Tenchu Z will require the usual brand of 'patience and strategic thinking with use of the stealth kill system' across the new game's 50 missions. Amongst the new features included in the Xbox 360 game, released as Tenchu Senran in Japan, are a full character edit mode, where players can purchase new abilities, items, and special attacks for their customized ninja, as well as a four-player co-op mode through Xbox Live, presumably still present in the forthcoming North American release. The Japanese demo version of Tenchu Senran has already appeared as a special extra on a U.S. Official Xbox Magazine demo disc, and the release of Tenchu Z marks the first time Microsoft will have first-party control over the title. No release date has been set by the publisher thus far.
