Maxwell Render, a "new render engine based on the physics of real light", has announced that the Maxwell Render Beta version 1.2 has just been released and is already available via its website. This latest Maxwell Render Beta version features, amongst other things, a faster Render Engine, a reduction of Memory footprint, simple sub-surface scattering, and a MXI viewer, in a preview of the future Graphical User Interface for the utility. For further information on the product, which is available for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux, and includes plug-in connections to 3DS Max, Viz, Maya, Lightwave, Rhino, Solidworks, and Cinema3D, visit the official Maxwell Render web site.
