Console and portable game publisher Majesco (Jaws Unleashed, Infected) has announced its latest change of management and board of directors, naming former president of the company, Jesse Sutton, as interim chief executive officer and member of its board of directors. Sutton replaces his father, Morris Sutton, as CEO, and will serve as Majesco's director until the 2009 Annual Meeting of the Company's stockholders. Morris Sutton will be returning to his previous role as chairman emeritus, and will focus on Majesco's sales and distribution efforts, and will be leaving the company's board. Jesse Sutton, aged 37, has previously served as both CEO and a member of the company's board, but had resigned in February of this year to allow the board to maintain an independent majority of directors. The company's release says Sutton has been a "key member in revising Majesco's strategy and identity", following Majesco's decision to pull back from high-budget console game publishing after significant losses due to sales disappointment for titles such as Psychonauts and Advent Rising. "As Interim CEO I will continue to execute on our goal of becoming a leading publisher of value and handheld products. Additionally, I will endeavor to guide Majesco into its next phase of growth by exploring new avenues in the digital entertainment market", Sutton commented. He also noted: "This move will allow my father, Morris Sutton, to focus more aggressively on sales and distribution. With a reduced role in managing the Company's corporate activities, he will be able to direct his energy towards expanding the Company's distribution, creating partnerships and bolstering our sales efforts."
