After months of inaction, the U.S. PC charts have burst into life, with The Sims 2 taking the number one slot with ease. The game’s pre-orders alone are responsible for its initial entry in the charts last month, and Electronic Arts recently confirmed that the title had sold one million copies worldwide in the first ten days of release. Activision’s Call of Duty first person shooter expansion pack has also done extremely well, beating out competition from Star Wars: Battlefront and Rome: Total War, despite requiring the original game to work, thus showing the continued power of 'hardcore gamer' FPS titles in the arguably dwindling PC market. In addition, the critically acclaimed strategy title Rome: Total War may not have had quite as disappointing a start it appears, since the game was only released towards the end of September. It, too, managed to chart last month purely on the back of its pre-orders, which suggests strong sales are still likely in the coming weeks.
