At the National Association of Broadcasters Convention, Kaydara Inc. announced the upcoming release of Filmbox 3.0, the latest version of its real-time 3D content authoring and delivery tool. Kaydara says that the substantial enhancements to Kaydara's character engine, animation tools and user interface allows Filmbox 3.0 to streamline the production process by extending the content-authoring capabilities and help animators to create, modify and re-use animated content more efficiently. Filmbox 3.0 enhances various essential tools as well as introducing entirely new features. New features in Filmbox 3.0 include enhancements to HumanIKä, Filmbox's character engine, that will allow animators to reproduce even the most complex range of movements while bringing their characters to life. It has a new Control Curves Tool that allows users to edit additive layers of animation without modifying the original data. Filmbox 3.0 also adds a new menu bar for quicker access to tools, and new transformation handles that accelerate object manipulation and provide interactive visual cues directly from the 3D views. Filmbox 3.0 also natively supports Kaydara's FBX, a powerful interchange format for 3D data that allows Filmbox users to quickly acquire and exchange 3D assets and media from a wide variety of sources. Filmbox 3.0 supports Microsoft Windows NT/2000, Apple OS X, SGI IRIX, and Red Hat Linux. Kaydara Filmbox 3.0 will be available in July 2001, for around $5,000.
