The suit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District Court of California, alleges that the force-feedback controllers, accessories and games for the Xbox, PSX, and PS2 infringe on Immersion patents. Immersion holds over 150 patents worldwide related to haptic technology and products, and has licensed its technology to a number of game peripheral companies, including MadCatz and Saitek. "After extensive attempts to settle this infringement issue through negotiations, we decided to file the suit today to enforce our intellectual property rights," said Bob O'Malley, chairman and CEO of Immersion.
