Havok announced the release of Havok 2 physics middleware at the Game Developers Conference. According to the company, Havok 2 features better performance, scalability, improved tools support, and new features for developers building character-based games. Havok 2 also features an improved character controller, ragdoll effects for death scenes, localized ragdoll effects for secondary motion, and breakable constraints for detachable limbs. The engine has been designed to be modular and ships with source code. It includes exporters for 3ds max and Maya. As for platform support, Havok 2 will be available for the PS2, Gamecube, Xbox and PC.
