2007 Game Developers Conference organizers have announced another keynote speech for the March event in San Francisco, this time Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios president Phil Harrison on “Game 3.0: Developing and Creating for the Third Age of Video Games.” Harrison's speech, set for Wednesday, March 7, will, say GDC organizers 'share with developers creative and commercial opportunities made real by the third age of videogames,' specifically, those presented by 'massively connected communities of players and developers.' Harrison is expected to illuminate developers as to what "'always on' can mean for both the game development industry and consumer, as well as what some of the innovative products and services are that will help content developers define and shape the meaning of Game 3.0," as well as demonstrate exclusive insights into Sony's own development of products and services in the area. Said GDC executive director Jamil Moledina, “Each console cycle gives platforms the chance to reinvent the experiences they enable developers to provide to gamers. Phil Harrison is uniquely positioned to apply both his prescient creative abilities and his command of a globe-spanning network of leading development teams — to bring the entire developer community in on the giant leap forward of the PlayStation 3.” The announcement from GDC (which is part of the CMP Game Group, as is Gamasutra) follows the recent announcement that Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto will provide another keynote at the event, making a rare Western public appearance to present his talk, “A Creative Vision".
