A recent feature on games website GameSpy calls into question Microsoft’s claim that the Xbox is the second best selling console in the world. Although it is never sensible to accept any console manufacturer’s sales figures verbatim the feature claims to have used “hardware sales data from press releases, news reports, and financial reports” to construct a table of sales data according to the three main territories. The data shows the Xbox neck and neck with GameCube, with Microsoft well behind in Japan and not nearly as far ahead in Europe as it sometimes implies. The full article can be seen by clicking here.
