This week's top rental charts from U.S. game rental company GameFly, representing the most requested games for the week ending September 1, have again been topped by THQ's newly released Saints Row for Xbox 360.
This week's top rental charts from U.S. game rental company GameFly, representing the most requested games for the week ending September 1, highlights the popularity surrounding video game titles that have been already released, as well as those that are yet to debut. Games for the Xbox 360 again ranked as the top requested titles across all platforms for the week, with THQ's newly released Saints Row taking top honors. Ubisoft's recently shipped next-gen role-playing game Enchanted Arms climbed four spots to claim the second spot on the chart, while LucasArts LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy continued to be a popular title, climbing from last week's fourth spot to become the third most requested title across all platforms for the week. LEGO Star Wars II's popularity extended to current generation platforms as well, with the upcoming release ranking as the top requested title for the Xbox, PlayStation 2, and GameCube for the week. Electronic Arts' Madden NFL 07 remained a popular request for owners of the original Xbox, as did Vivendi's physics-powered racing title, FlatOut 2, with both ranking as the second and third most requested Xbox titles respectively for the week. Looking to the PlayStation 2, Square Enix's action role-playing hybrid Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus followed LEGO Star Wars II as the second most requested title for the platform, followed by Sega's free-roaming action-adventure game Yakuza. As mentioned, GameCube requests were likewise topped by LucasArts' LEGO-inspired sequel, though requests for Namco Bandai's recently shipped action game One Piece: Grand Adventure and D3P's Naruto: Clash of Ninja 2 elevated the pair of anime titles into the second and third spots respectively on the console's chart. Nintendo's popular Pokemon franchise dominated Game Boy Advance requests for the week, with Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team taking the top spot on the chart, followed by Pokemon Emerald. The top three were rounded out by Atari's Dragon Ball: Advanced Adventure. Turning to the Nintendo DS, Nintendo's recently shipped Star Fox: Command again ranked on top of the chart, followed by Mario Hoops 3 on 3 and the ever-popular DS version of LEGO Star Wars II. Capcom's upcoming re-imagining of its classic action franchise with Ultimate Ghosts 'N Goblins was the most requested PSP release for the week, beating out Sony's Loco Roco and Electronic Arts' Madden NFL 07. Building upon anticipation for the fourth quarter releases of the PlayStation 3 and Wii platforms, Ubisoft's PS3 action title Assassin's Creed again earned the most rental requests for the week, followed by Sony and Insomniac's Resistance: Fall of Man and Activision's Call of Duty 3. Super Smash Bros. Brawl was the most requested Wii title for the week, beating out requests for other popular upcoming releases such as The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and next-gen Mario adventure Super Mario Galaxy.
