This week's GameFly video game rental charts for North America, specifically relating to games rented via the games-by-mail service for the week ending March 13th, show popularity over multiple game formats. As usual, there's no specific system data attached to the all-format charts, but the specter of Burnout Revenge rising from its fall 2005 grave to become #1 across all formats means it can only be the just-released Xbox 360 version. The other two in the top three are also 360-fueled: both Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter at #2 and Fight Night Round 3 at #3 are for multiple platforms, but on the console-specific charts they do strongest on the 360. The three games naturally repeat in the same order at the top of the Xbox 360-specific rental chart. Xbox-owning aficionados, meanwhile, have taken to EA's Black like a duck to water, keeping it at #1 on the system. The FPS-happy Xbox fans have naturally taken to Black, making it #1 above fellow shooters Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter at #2 and Half-Life 2 at #3. The PlayStation 2 shows more genre diversity in its top 3: Capcom's Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams debuts at the top of the heap, over MLB 06: The Show from Sony at #2 and Black at #3. The ninja in orange has beaten out the plumber in red on Nintendo systems charts this week. Naruto: Clash of Ninja, the anime-licensed fighter, takes the #1 spot in its first week on the chart, above the established Super Mario Strikers at #2, and Mario Party 7 in third. On Nintendo's Game Boy Advance, Naruto: Ninja Council is in the lead, beating out Tales of Phantasia's first appearance in the U.S. at #2 and rival anime property Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Duel Academy in third. On the Nintendo DS, Super Princess Peach is still floating high above the competition on her parasol, while Resident Evil: Deadly Silence gnashes its teeth in the basement of second place. Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time return to the top three in third. MLB 06: The Show is this week's GTA spoiler on the PSP, claiming #1 as Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories remains at #2, unable to catch a break. Third place is Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai, the first PSP fighting game in the popular anime franchise.
