Nintendo of America’s George Harrison has revealed figures indicating that the GameCube has doubled its US markets share from 19% to 37%, following the console’s price cut to £99.99. If true this puts the GameCube comfortably ahead of the Xbox, but still behind the PlayStation 2. However, if sales of the Game Boy Advance are taken into account Nintendo as a company now control over 50% of the US video games market. Whether this will continue to be the case as the Christmas buying period continues though is unclear.
