Numbers crunched by market research firm NPD TRSTS show that North American video game hardware, software and accessory sales fell to $6.5 billion in 2000, down 5 percent from a mark of $6.9 billion the previous year. Much of the decline is thought to be due to gamers hording their game buying dollars until the arrival of next generation game systems.
