Avid Technology has announced it is adding new tools to its Soft Image 3D system to support the creation of new titles for the Nintendo Gamecube. The new tools, which will be included in a special version of Soft Image 3D, include multiple UV texturing, interactive normal editing, polygon hide/unhide, enhanced vertex color shading, and a dope-sheet control for shader and custom function curves. New signatures have also been added to facilitate control over expressions. Soft Image 3D is currently being used for upcoming Nintendo Gamecube titles such as, Luigi’s Mansion, Super Smash Brothers Melee, and Pikmin. This special version of Soft Image 3D is available to authorized Nintendo Gamecube developers.
