Softimage has rolled out four new versions of Softimage|XSI 2.0, adding "Workstation" and "Enterprise" versions, plus "Essentials" and "Advanced" packages on top of that. The four new versions are: - Softimage|XSI Essentials Workstation 2.0 - Softimage|XSI Essentials Enterprise 2.0 - Softimage|XSI Advanced Workstation 2.0 - Softimage|XSI Advanced Enterprise 2.0 The Workstation package is a lower-priced version of Softimage|XSI 2.0 for smaller production houses whose work doesn't require the highest levels of network flexibility and rendering options. The Workstation version is node locked to a specific dongle and a specific operating system. The Enterprise version is a more flexible edition that lets users float licenses across systems and multiple operating systems and between departments or facilities. It enables distributed rendering anywhere on the network, from any source, and includes new workgroup capabilities for easier project management. The Essentials package delivers the base Softimage animation and modeling toolset. The Advanced package includes all of the functionality found in the Essentials package, and adds a fully integrated 2D/3D compositing environment, particles and SoftBodies, and integrated hair/fur dynamics simulation. Pricing for Softimage|XSI Essentials is $6,750 for the Workstation model and $7,995 for the Enterprise model. For Softimage|XSI Advanced pricing is $11,750 for the Workstation model and $13,995 for the Enterprise model.
