Interactive entertainment-focused PR agency Kohnke Communications has announced that Julia Roether has joined the firm as vice president and will open and lead a new Los Angeles office. Her responsibilities will include providing strategic council to the firm's interactive entertainment, consumer and digital lifestyle accounts, and overseeing a team representing a variety of the company's game industry clients. Roether previously spent seven years overseeing public relations for Nintendo of America at GolinHarris, including media relations surrounding the launch of the Wii, DS, and next-gen Mario, Zelda and Metroid properties. Prior to that, Roether was a senior manager of corporate communications at Activision, where she oversaw the implementation and execution of media relations for the firm's console products, including the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, X-Men, and Disney/Pixar's Toy Story 2 franchises. "Julia brings a wealth of knowledge, leadership, and an extensive background in public relations and consumer and interactive entertainment which is a perfect compliment to our world-class team," said Richard Kain, Kohnke general manager. "We look forward to Julia growing our presence in Los Angeles, and giving us senior level counsel in the heart of the entertainment industry."
