Brian Meidell and Bo Cordes, formerly of Hitman developer Io Interactive, have announced the formation of a new Copenhagen-based casual games company, The Game Equation. Meidell explained the company was formed as a response to other developers with similar background scoring hits in the casual games industry, and Cordes noted they wanted to focus on "tight" gameplay in a new field. The company also announced its first release, match-three puzzler The Deep Blue Sea, downloadable for PC and Mac. The title features an original soundtrack by Danish composer Rasmus Hartvig. A second title, the astrology-based Constellations, is also available. Said Meidell, "We realized that the high end of the casual games industry was within our reach, and that the shorter product cycles and smaller company setting was exactly what we wanted. These are games that remind us of the ones we played when growing up."
