Three ex-development staff from Climax Online have founded a new development studio dedicated to console and massively multiplayer online (MMO) games. Named Monumental Games, the new company is based in Nottingham, England. The developer is currently working on a brand new MMO, and is also announced that it is developing MMO middleware software TitanAT, designed to provide developers with an established content creation pipeline and an advanced toolset specifically designed for the genre. "Given the need for top class middleware in the rapidly growing MMO market, our tools and technology provide the perfect foundation for those developers and publishers who want to bring their MMO game to market cheaper, faster and with less risk," said CEO Rik Alexander. Climax announced earlier this year that the company's Nottingham studio had been funded to develop a number of game prototypes based on the company’s massively multiplayer online engine Leviathan, which was originally developed to power the company's now-shelved Warhammer Online MMO, and it appears that Monumental has been formed by key staff previously working on that project.
