Virtual reality software provider EON Reality has announced EON Visualizer, an off-the-shelf 3D authoring tool designed to allow users without technical expertise to generate “realistic, interactive” 3D worlds for web, print, video and real-time formats. Scheduled to ship in November, EON Visualizer is developed using EON Reality's new kernel, Dali, which improves the scalability and flexibility of the functionality. Based on Microsoft's .NET 3.0 platform and using a drag-and-drop interface, EON Visualizer offers “the smartest, most powerful 3D content editing tool available for 3D viewing, exploration, configuration, interaction, animation and free publishing,” according to a statement. Among the features included within EON Visualizer are a library of 12,000 3D objects and more than 12 different showrooms and 360-degree landscape settings, seamless CAD support, drawing and CG capabilities. The software also comes with a selection of high-resolution print materials, and offers seamless, scalable deployment from the internet and laptop to stereoscopic screens. EON Reality adds that the tool can be used for creating a variety of content, from role-playing games, training tools, and social network communities, to business marketing, sales presentations, and in software for educational settings. In addition, users with more advanced programming skills will be able to get more out of EON Visualizer by adding more advanced features to the tool. "The missing link to addressing the need for rapid creation of virtual worlds has been the lack of easy-to-use tools," said Dan Lejerskar, chairman, EON Reality. "EON Visualizer paves the way for in-house creation of engaging, realistic virtual 3D content without the expense of hiring outside technical support. Our product is so easy to use, even my 10-year old son can use it."
