Eidos Interactive (Tomb Raider, Kane and Lynch) has announced Just Cause 2, a sequel to the 2006 title, in development for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Like its predecessor, Just Cause 2 will be developed by Stockholm, Sweden-based Avalanche Studios. The sequel will again follow original protagonist Rico Rodriguez, setting him in the Southeast Asian Panau islands against a storyline Eidos says is "over-the-top" and "Hollywood-esque." Eidos says it will add more stunts, vehicles and weapons to the sandbox-style format, promising a 1000-square kilometer game world and an improved air, land and sea stunt system. Eidos brand manager Alex Price commented, "Remember everything you loved about Just Cause, then take it to the next level: vehicles, stunts, weapons, freedom, grappling hook, action, everything. The game world is even more incredible in Just Cause 2 and Rico has done a bit of growing up, so expect quite a few new surprises up his sleeves."
