Edge editor Joao Diniz-Sanches and deputy editor David McCarthy have quit the high profile UK games magazine amid concerns at the new direction of the title. Although the multi-format magazine has a circulation of only 27,315 it has long been a vanity project for Future Publishing and is treated almost as a trade magazine by much of the industry and hardcore fans. Although Diniz-Sanches has publicly claimed that he is leaving “for personal reasons” it is rumoured that other staff members from the magazine may also soon leave after the company apparently tried to steer the magazine in the direction of a more mass-market audience.
