Electronic Arts has announced NCAA Football 09 for Wii, the first title in the franchise for that console. EA will inaugurate the debut with a platform-exclusive college team mascot, to be selected by fan vote. NCAA Football 09 for Wii will feature EA Sports Family Play, as with NBA Live, Madden NFL and FIFA. Family Play is designed to allow novice users to compete against advanced players and still succeed, highlighting a multiplayer social component. Players still have the option of playing more traditionally with Advanced mode. NCAA Football 09 will also release on the PSP, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The Wii and PSP versions are being produced by EA Canada's Fusion development team, partnering with EA Tiburon. The Tiburon team will develop the other versions. Nintendo VP of licensing Steve Singer commented, "Nintendo is excited to have NCAA Football 09 available for Wii. In my family, NCAA Football has always been a family event. Now with the Family Play mode from EA we can share the football experience all year long.”
