Officials from Electronic Arts have announced that the company has signed Far Cry developers Crytek to work on an unnamed new gaming franchise. No financial details were revealed concerning the deal, but Crytek president Cevat Yerli has commented that, "Our advanced technology and creativity, together with EA's production support, marketing and sales, means that we have a great opportunity to being an original gaming experience to our consumers, as well as grow our business." The signing of Crytek is the latest in a number of deals – including those with Criterion, Free Radical Design and Gas Powered Games - that has seen Electronic Arts acquire licenses and developers aimed at a more specific, older, age group than many of the company’s traditional family friendly titles.
