Electronic Arts has unveiled Army of Two,the first title in development at EA Montreal. The co-operative action game has been in development for the past two years for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and is expected to ship in 2007. While little is known about the game currently, EA has stated that Army of Two will be set within modern day war zones, and allow players to utilize two man strategies and tactics as they transition between playing with an AI controlled teammate or another live player. “Army of Two is a first for EA in many ways,” commented Alain Tascan, VP and General Manager of EA Montreal and executive producer of the title. “This is the first EA studio to be built entirely from the ground-up. This is EA's first original title for the next-gen systems. Army of Two is the first game to put players inside tactical warfare involving Private Military Corporations.” According to EA, this is a game that the company has wanted to make for a long time, but up until now it felt that the hardware would not allow for truly intelligent AI. Reid Schneider, Senior Producer at EA Montreal added, “We've built this game with co-operative two man gameplay as the centerpiece of the experience. Whether you're playing with PAI (Intelligent Partner AI) or a friend, it's about the two man missions, two man strategies and the two man advantage that really sets this game apart." It appears likely that more information on Army of Two will come out of next week's Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles, although nothing has yet been confirmed.
