Electronic Arts has officially announced that it will release Medal of Honor Heroes 2, the sequel to last year’s PSP exclusive, this holiday season for both the PSP as well as the Wii, promising “full support” for Nintendo’s upcoming Wii Zapper, recently announced during last week’s E3 event in Santa Monica. Both versions of the game will feature a World War II themed single player campaign, as well as include support for 32 player online multiplayer battles. EA describes the online mode as “continuous-joining,” adding that players will be able to sign in and participate in online games “at any time.” Beyond this, EA notes that the Wii version in particular will include a new mode described as “an old-school rail shooter” designed specifically for the Wii and its new Zapper peripheral “that simplifies gameplay for players of all skills levels for easy pick-up-and-play action.” The title will mark the second title in the Medal of Honor franchise to be released for the Wii, following the March 2007 release of Medal of Honor Vanguard. The next game in the series, Medal of Honor Airborne, is expected to be released in August, though the title has only been announced for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
