Electronic Arts has announced SimCity Creator, a DS and Wii-exclusive title advertised as the most accessible and light-hearted game from the SimCity franchise, allowing players to 'create, enjoy, and destroy' cities. Both the handheld and home console versions are expected to ship in Europe and Asia on September 19, 2008 and in North America on September 22, 2008. Designed to bring the city-game experience to families and players of all ages, SimCity Creator for the Wii allows players to take on the role of a powerful mayor, zoning cities and constructing homes, businesses, factories. The game will, of course, utilize a new user interface designed specifically for the Wii Remote. Players will have thirteen city styles to choose from, such as European and Asian themes, as well as “Hero” iconic buildings. For the first time, transportation systems with free placement of rounded and curved roads and rail lines will be available. SimCity Creator for the Wii also provides aircraft, including helicopters and propeller planes, which players can use to fly over and examine their creations. Following SimCity tradition, players will be able to create earthquakes, tornados, fires, and other disasters using the Wii remote. The Nintendo DS version of SimCity Creator will feature four play modes, including Challenge, Free Play, Chance Encounter, and Gallery. The portable release will allow players to evolve their city through time, starting with ancient times, the middle ages, modern times, present day and the future. Said Sims Label studio head Rod Humble: "SimCity Creator for the Wii and Nintendo DS brings two separate, delightful new ways to create, enjoy and destroy your own cities... I know both long-time and new SimCity players will enjoy these innovative experiences in SimCity Creator starting this September!"
