E-on software has announced the release of a Windows only version of Vue d'Esprit 4 (Vue 4), the latest version of its 3D scenery animation and rendering software, with a Mac OS X version targeted at a 4th quarter release. Vue 4 features:

  • · A new volumetric atmosphere system that closely captures the complex interactions of air and light; volumetric clouds, materials and lights · Lens flares, stellar and Atmospheric objects · A Terrain Editor with real-time 3D preview, random rock generator, symmetrical terrains · SolidGrowth 2, e-on software's realistic tree and plant creation and rendering technology, makes every plant and rock unique when dragged into a Vue 4 scene, and without adding significantly to file size · Direct import of static Curious Lab's Poser scenes and import of Caligari Truespace files · New output options include MPEG 1, MPEG 2, QuickTime, RealMovie(TM), QuickTime VR, PICT and TIFF import/export filters.

E-on software indicated that the full version of Vue 4 ships with 2 CDs, containing 30 SolidGrowth 2 trees and plants, more than 100 different atmospheres, 100 different cloud types, 300 materials, 250 fully-textured 3D objects and more than 50 example scenes, along with a 300-page manual. Vue d'Esprit 4 carries a $199 price tag, with a deal on a competitive upgrade for Bryce 4 users coming in at $169.
